This
past year some friends of ours asked if I could
make two transoms for their home that would
tell a story about their family. I like
designing panels but this meant more than coming
up with one just one design – this meant
incorporating many designs into one piece, and
I don’t mind admitting I felt a little
anxious! When I sat down and started thinking
about the family, though, God sent such a rush
of ideas to me that I could barely keep up!
He was such a huge part of the design
process that I want to thank Him in this venue.
Some
of the elements include:
The cadeusus, because Durwin is a doctor;
the quilt in the love knot pattern, because
Cindy likes to quilt;
the four sheaves of wheat represent their four
children;
Cindy’s flute, and music in their lives;
the Bible and other books to represent their
thirst for knowledge
as well as the fact that they are both active
teachers in the church;
the two fish and five loaves;
water changing into wine;
And the “W” for their family name.
They wanted the second transom to share their love of the beach… this was a little easier!
Thanks to Cindy and Durwin for letting me test my skills and stretch my wings, and thanks to God for overseeing the job.
"Christy, We can’t say enough about how much we appreciate all the love, work and effort you put into the design and creation of our windows. Several times a day we find ourselves just going in there to look at them again. We know we will enjoy them the rest of our lives. Thanks
again, |

CHAPEL
WINDOW
For Dixon Correctional Institute
Chaplain Gary Pearce had a very clear picture in his mind of what he wanted the chapel window to look like, and we worked closely together to make sure that the hands reaching upward to God were exactly what he wanted. Thanks to my sweet and patient husband for his help in getting the hands just right.
